The Bar

The bar has a traditional style, with a roaring fire in the cold winters, much welcomed after a long walk. With traditional wooden beams, wooden settles and a warm, cosy and inviting atmosphere, the bar is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your stay.

The Hotel Bar.

It is in fact so traditional that it was used as part of the set for the film And When Did I last See My Father? starring Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth, which was released in October 2007.

Jim Broadbent relaxes on set in the Reception area of The Lathkil during filming of 'And When Did You Last See Your Father?'

We hold a weekly Quiz Night on Wednesday nights from 9pm, with a variety of quizzes covering all subjects such as sport, current events, film and music and general knowledge, often themed to help with those tricky questions that escape you! Traditional games like darts, dominoes and cards can also be played.

With five real ale hand pulls we are able to have a constantly changing array of wonderful guest beers both from local brewers and those farther a field. You will regularly find Hartington Bitter from Whim Ales brewed locally in the village of Hartington and Tiger Bitter from Everards of Leicester. Other visiting ales come from breweries such as Peak Ales at Chatsworth, Hornbeam Brewery, Black Hole Brewery, Somerset's Cottage Brewery, Fuller’s of Chiswick,  Bradfield Brewery, Abbeydale Brewery, Blue Monkey Brewery, Storm Brewery, Sharp's Brewery, Titanic Brewery and Spire Brewery to name but a few.

** Please note that due to licensing, Children under 14 years of age are not allowed in the bar, but are more than welcome in the Dining Area. **
